Academics:Youth will have the opportunity to continue his education by taking high school courses on-line at Brigham Young University’s Independent Study High School Transcript Program. This program provides a Standard Program which offers a traditional high school program which satisfies basic high school requirements for admission to college. The program also provides an Advanced Program which offers courses that are more strenuous than those of the Standard Program to better prepare youth to enter competitive colleges and universities. It also prepares youth to take the ACT or SAT exams.

By taking courses on-line youth will be able to work at his own pace which allows youth who are behind in his credits to catch up.

To help youth with his course work, certified teachers who specialize in core class subjects are available during class time to provide tutoring as needed. Counseling:Treatment Focus

Renovo’s goal for each youth at Renovo is to eliminate inappropriate sexual behavior. To accomplish this each youth will focus on:

*

Healing – Youth will examine the beliefs, feelings, and experiences that resulted in problematic behavior and resolve the issues that contributed to the problematic behavior.
*

Accountability: Youth will overcome denial and accept responsibility for his behavior.
*

Self Awareness: Youth will enhance his ability to discuss and monitor the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that contribute to a pattern of harmful sexual behavior.
*

Empathy Development: Youth will increase his understanding of the impact sexual behavior has on others, especially victims.
*

Relapse Prevention Planning: Youth will develop techniques and coping strategies for managing harmful sexual impulses.
*

Personal Enrichment: Youth will develop relationship boundaries, clarify values, enhance maturity, learn to manage his anger, address substance abuse issues, and improve social and relationship skills.
*

Family Involvement and Healing: Parents are encouraged to support the youth while in treatment and families will have the opportunity to go through a healing process. Parents are invited to participate in their son’s therapy via telephone on a weekly basis and are encouraged to visit frequently. Youth at Renovo will also go on therapeutic home visits designed to prepare for a successful transition home.

Therapy Components

*

Individual Therapy: Each youth will meet with his therapist a minimum of one session per week. The focus in individual therapy sessions will be on sexually specific and related treatment issues. The therapy plan for each youth will be individualized to meet his specific needs.
*

Family Therapy: Once a week parents will be contacted by their son’s therapist to discuss treatment progress. At times, the parents will be invited to participate in a therapy session with their son over the phone. These sessions will focus on issues specific to the family such as family communication, relationship building, boundary clarification, risk management, and relapse prevention.
*

Group Therapy: Group therapy is the most effective means of working with adolescents. Group therapy sessions are held at least two times weekly and focus on illegal and harmful sexual behavior and related themes. The groups are intense and incorporate innovative therapeutic techniques aimed at facilitating change within a supportive and positive peer environment.
*

Therapeutic Home Visits: When a youth earns the appropriate level and is deemed ready by his therapist he will be eligible for a home visit. The purposes of all home visits are therapeutic and are designed to prepare a youth and his family for reunification. Prior to a home visit the youth, his parents, and his therapist will establish therapeutic goals which he will work on during the visit. Home visits will serve as useful tools to evaluate each youth’s progress based on how he presents himself in his home environment. This behavior will be discussed and evaluated following each youth’s home visit.
*

Psychiatric Evaluation: If needed, evaluations are available for prescribing medication. Regular scheduled laboratory work and consultation with a psychiatrist is available as required for monitoring medications.
*

Psychological Evaluations: If needed, evaluations are available as necessary to evaluate individual treatment needs.
Campus:Situated on over 30 acres with picturesque views of open and wooded countryside,
