Student Profile:Autism, developmental disabilities or emotional/conduct problems that have prevented the students from being successfully educated in a public school environment
Academics:JRC is certified as a special needs school by the Massachusetts Department of Education.
Activities:Some students work part- or full-time in our Work Activities Center, where they are paid to do contract assembly work for local businesses. From time to time JRC offers training courses to its students in computer applications and computer support. JRC provides a cycle of training in a variety of in-school jobs, including computer support, clerical work, audio-visual services, cleaning, maintenance, etc. After completing this training cycle, students may be eligible for paid after-school jobs in one of the JRC departments. As students progress, they may obtain part-time jobs in local businesses in supported employment or in independent jobs.
Counseling:Under the direction of the studentŐs psychologist, a treatment team designs a treatment program to increase desired behaviors and decrease undesired behaviors.
Campus: JRC operates 24 residences which are located in Canton, Stoughton, Norton, Attleboro, Mansfield, and Rehoboth, Massachusetts. in each residence, including large screen TV, as well as cable TV, stereo, a CD/DVD player and Sony Playstations in each bedroom.
Family Involvement:Open visiting policy. JRC offers training in behavior modification and in how to carry out the student's program to parents and siblings. Parents are encouraged to continue the student's program as much as they can during the student's home visits.
Philosophy:A willingness to accept students with the most difficult behavioral problems and a refusal to reject or expel any student because of the difficulty of his or her presenting behaviors
Staff:Treatment team that includes a case manager, the teacher, the special education supervisor and the residential coordinators. Additional input is obtained from medical consultants, psychiatrists, nursing staff, speech therapists, etc. as required
